(Sorry, but WE CANNOT TELL YOU THE VALUE OF AN INSTRUMENT BY EMAIL OR PHONE. There are too many variables about label, maker, condition and etc., and WE NO LONGER DO APPRAISALS. Please bring the instrument to a violin shop near you. If you wish to Consign an fine instrument with us for sale, please contact us.)
Unfortunately, no one can accurately appraise your string instrument with just a verbal description from you. Labels are often inaccurate, and judging such vital variables as condition, origin and sound are impossible without more information. At any rate, due to extreme demand, we no longer provide appraisal services. In regards to the sale of your instrument, we do not buy instruments from private parties; there is just too much potential for conflict of interest, both in valuting the instrument and in that we only wish to buy instruments that we feel are the best choice for our clients. If you own a fine instrument, one that would be good for our clients, we may take this on a consignment basis, which we believe is the only fair way for a dealer to sell your violin in these circumstances. Of course, we must actually see it before making any further judgements or commitments. .
